Accomack County, VA
Accomack County is the northern of Virginia's two Eastern Shore counties, occupying the peninsula between the Chesapeake Bay to the west and the Atlantic barrier islands to the east. Chincoteague Island, at the county's northern end, is a well-established vacation destination anchored by Assateague Island National Seashore and its wild pony population, which draws over 1.5 million visitors annually. Chincoteague has a developed short-term rental market, restaurant and retail infrastructure, and a seasonal economy that supports both vacation property investment and year-round residence. The remainder of Accomack County is agricultural and rural, with bay-front and creek-front properties available at price points well below comparable Maryland Shore waterfront. Accomack County Public Schools serves the district. The county is accessible via the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel from Virginia Beach and via Route 13 north to Maryland.
